2020 Early Commencement Program

The Early Commencemt Program (ECP) provides our Year 11 students and Year 10 accelerating students with a directed and meaningful beginning to their Unit 3/4 and Year 2 VCE/VET/VCAL studies, whilst also enabling them to start the work involved in each subject.

All VCE and VCAL students who will be in Year 12 in 2021 must attend each day of ECP.

ECP will be conducted over nine days commencing Monday, 16 November and concludes Friday, 27 November (Friday, 20/11 is a teacher & student-free day).

Please refer to the ECP documents below for more information.

Use the Year 12 Subject Codes doc to help determine your subjects on the timetable. Remember to look for the line your subject is on and match that to the timetable.

Year 12 Common Time

Year 12 students who are not completing an External VET, are timetabled in the class “Common Time”.

Common Time may be used for:

  • Year level assemblies

  • House assemblies

  • Whole year level student assessment tasks e.g. English

  • Supervised SAC Catch Up

  • Career/ Post school study information sessions.

  • Supervised private study

It is anticipated that Common Time will promote collaboration, communication and social connection for our Year 12 students: allowing them to focus on their study, without interruption to class time.

School-based Assessments

At Notre Dame College, school-based assessments are:

  • Outcome Assessment Tasks (OATs) - VCE Units 1 & 2 and VET Year 1 (Year 11)

  • School Assessed Coursework (SACs) - VCE Units 3 & 4 and VET Year 2 (Year 12)

Dates for OATs and SACs can be downloaded below from early each semester.

Where a student will be absent for an OAT or SAC, they are required to apply to reschedule it prior to the original date or within three school days following their return to school.

* IMPORTANT NOTE: Where a student fails to follow this procedure, the student will receive an N - Not Satisfactory for the unit. The student then needs to appeal via contact with the Director of Learning and Teaching within 7 days.
