College Mass

The whole College community came together on Thursday for the Opening Mass, officiated by Bishop Shane Mackinlay with the support of Father Jackson Saunders, Father Jo Taylor and Mons Peter Jeffrey.

Whilst reflecting on the new College theme 'Let Your Light Lead The Way" we also celebrated the investiture of our Student Leaders with a blessing of their badges.

Yarramunua

Stan Dryden (Yarramunua) is an artist, actor, musician, businessman, philanthropist & keynote speaker who is passionate about Aboriginal culture. Throughout his life, he has worked to raise awareness of his culture with painting, art and craft making, story-telling, didgeridoo performing, traditional dancing, acting, clothing design, public speaking and healing. An entrepreneur and humanitarian, he is the founder of the Yarramunua Foundation for disadvantaged children.

Stan’s presentation recently to NDC students was a high level of interaction and engagement.

Stan has appeared in television programs such as Corelli with Hugh Jackman, Man from Snowy River with Guy Pearce and in Blue Heelers. Stan has also preformed privately and customised didgeridoos and paintings for Stevie Wonder, Prince, AC/DC, Eminem, Snoop Dog, 50cent, G-Unit, Bob Marley’s Wailers and Englebert Humperdinck.

It was a pleasure to have Stan speak inspiringly to some of our emerging young indigenous students.

NEW CANTEEN and MERCY BLEND SPACES

Last week our Canteen and Mercy Blend Cafe moved into their brand-new facilities, located on the North-side of Knight Street.

CANTEEN - The vibrant and open space, accessible through the south-facing windows, was abuzz with activity. Our lovely staff and volunteers had prepared delicious lunches for the students to enjoy, with the special for the day being nachos.

MERCY BLEND CAFE - Now located and accessible by the north-facing windows (across from the Careers Centre), Year 12 students and staff can enjoy freshly made beverages during recesses Monday to Friday. Additionally, there will be a roster system in place for students to be trained in a barista role. Customers will be served by the wonderful Anita and students in training.
