Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The College is exploring the use of AI - especially in our classrooms..

There appears to be four ways that this implementation might occur:

1. Using AI to enable differentiated learning experiences, finding gaps in learning.

2. Automated marking to fast-track feedback loops between teachers and students.

3. Harnessing authored lessons to easily integrate questioning into your teaching.

4. Creating and structuring memorable and engaging lessons.

We will keep you informed as this progresses.

Visioning a new education

Kate Fogarty - Director of CESL, has challenged Principals to discuss visioning a new education, with their Leadership Executive and Leadership Teams regarding the following scenario:

“We need to assume that we have a blank canvas, and that canvas is about drawing up how education will be presented into the future.

We need to understand that now all 56 schools in Sandhurst and all the respective staff are under the governance of CESL.”

The theory is that the Teacher shortage will be around for 5 to 10 years so we must look at delivering education in different ways and there have been many thoughts on how we could best set up a school system that caters for all in the following areas:

· Is there a notion of neighbouring schools having a shared resource?

· Can one person deliver Specialist Math to all those three schools?

· We have a leadership positions (POLs) that work for the three schools.

· We bring back Networks for each Domain and PD is delivered in these forums.

· Do we set up a situation where we have ability appropriate learning levels rather than age-appropriate learning?

· Do we set up neighbouring primary schools to be a Federation of Schools with one Principal?

· Do we set up a system where we have virtual classes where one teacher delivers across five or six remote schools?

· Do we set up a school in the area that caters for VCE Vocational major?

· It is about trying to deliver differently in subject areas.

· Possibly, we have one expert English teacher who could be responsible for teaching in a university type lecture system, which is then delivered to students via other English teachers in support.

· We will have this discussion with Advisory Committee, Leadership Team or the people in Positions of Leadership.

We will work towards strategies and update you here on any progress.
