College Productions

Notre Dame College (NDC) has a long-standing reputation for producing high-quality and professional theatre productions over several decades.

We are immensely proud of the students and staff who dedicate their time, energy, and passion to these significant commitments. This year alone, NDC received 29 nominations in the prestigious Northern Victorian Georgy Awards for our production of The Drowsy Chaperone and senior study plays.

NDC strongly supports these projects and holds in high esteem the exceptional work produced year after year. Special recognition is due to the directors and teachers who provide their invaluable experience, guidance, and thoughtful direction, making these performances highly sought after.

In recent years, producing such large-scale productions has become increasingly challenging. Considering all factors, especially the opportunities we can best provide to our students, NDC will transition to producing major productions biennially instead of annually. This change will allow us to maintain the highest level of quality in our productions every two years.

This informed decision ensures we are not compromised by production costs, including copyright licensing, set construction, and hiring expenses, as well as staffing availability and the role of Director. This approach will enable a stronger focus and commitment to delivering high-quality shows for the enjoyment of both students and audiences.

NDC will continue to provide your child with ample opportunities to engage in theatre studies, particularly through year-level plays and monologues. Whether on stage or behind the scenes, our students will continue to develop valuable skills and hands-on experience in the theatre space. As part of our ongoing investment in the performing arts, we are also constructing a new state-of-the-art theatre block in the Sacred Heart Hall, which is well underway.

We extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all who contribute to NDC productions. From the sponsors, parents, families, and friends who purchase tickets, to the dedicated staff and teachers who graciously volunteer their efforts, and above all, the supremely talented students who bring magic to the stage and make the shows what they are.

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is the anniversary of the Armistice (or ceasefire) that brought World War 1 to an end in 1918. People around the world observe one minute’s silence at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month because that’s when the Armistice came into effect.

On Remembrance Day, we pause to remember all those who lost their lives while serving our country in war.

Remembrance Day at Notre Dame College was observed in the following ways:

· Shepparton Cenotaph
NDC’s 2025 College Captains Will Clurey and Gracielle Igat together with Vice-Captains Noah Muir and Angela Baxter laid a wreath during the Remembrance Day Service

· Knight Street Campus
Flags were lowered at half mast at 10:30am and raised again at 11:02am Courtesy of staff member Joe Magee

· NDC Library
Courtesy of Emmi Rachele a poignant display is at the entrance of the library for students and staff to reflect upon

· Emmaus Campus
Under the wonderful curation of George Lester the Cross of Roses are in full bloom adding to a time of reflection and thankfulness for those who have served their country to allow us the freedom we have today.

Lest We Forget

La Trobe Partnerships Programme

La Trobe Partnerships Programme Coordinator, Rikke, visited NDC last week to speak with our Year 11 Vocational Major Work Related Skills classes.

This was a fantastic session that provided students with interactive and engaging discussions about transferable skills, education and employment pathways, and potential future career opportunities.

We thank Rikke for sharing her knowledge with our students.

Student Leave Passes

Parents, if your child needs a leave pass during the day it would be preferred that you do NOT phone or email as our office staff may be busy with other tasks. Please do not leave requests for leave passes on the absence line—this is for absences only.

INSTEAD:

Write your child a note the morning of appointment, requesting to leave school at a specific time (if collecting at 2:00PM make your Leave Pass Note for 10 minutes before).

The student will then have their note signed by Head of House / Community before Pastoral Group.

When it’s time to leave the student will show the signed leave pass to their classroom teacher to be excused.

The student will then show their note to Staff at Student Reception and will sign out using the kiosk.

Parent/guardians will meet the student in the front of the College.

** in extenuating circumstances you can call the office and we will do our best to get a message to them in a timely manner
