Last Friday, our school community came together to celebrate Harmony Day with great enthusiasm and spirit. The event was a vibrant showcase of our diverse cultures, with students and staff participating in various activities that highlighted the importance of inclusivity and respect. From traditional dances to a display of cultural dress on the fashion runway, everyone had a wonderful time learning about and appreciating each other's backgrounds. I thank everyone involved for making the event such a memorable one.
We also had our first Notre Dame Debutante Ball for this year on Friday evening. Eleven nervous couples were extremely well trained by Maree Geisler with the assistance of Shirley Emerton, Julie Holthuisen and Arlene Austin. Many thanks also to Les Billings for being the emcee for the evening.
From all reports, our Year 9 students are enjoying the Daborra camp and I’m sure we’ll hear all of their stories when they return. They’ll enjoy a well-earned break on Friday and return to school on Monday.
We extend a bon voyage to our Japanese language students and teachers as they embark on their study tour to Japan this Monday. A group of 23 students and 4 teachers will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a rich learning experience, engaging directly with the local community where Japanese is spoken as the first language. This journey promises to be an invaluable cultural and educational adventure.
Looking ahead, we are we are excited about our upcoming Athletics Carnival next Tuesday. This event will be a day full of energy, excitement and solid competition, with students and staff dressing up in their house colours and cheering on their teams. The carnival will feature a range of athletic events, from sprints to relays and we encourage everyone to bring their school spirit and enthusiasm as we come together to celebrate sportsmanship and teamwork.
