NOTRE DAME COLLEGE OUTSTANDING ATHLETE AWARDS

The Notre Dame College Outstanding Athlete Awards, proudly sponsored by the Marist Basketball Club, is presented to two students each Semester who demonstrate good role model behaviour, commitment to academic performance, embrace the NDC values and have outstanding results in the NDC Sports Academy Programme and/or when representing NDC at Inter School Sport.

The 2024 Semester One winners are:

Isla Shaw (Year 8)

Isla ruptured her ACL in November 2022 which required a knee reconstruction. The devastation of this injury would have broken many sportspeople, however, Isla’s commitment to her knee rehabilitation was extraordinary which has seen her achieve incredible results in several sports during Semester 1 of 2024.

Isla was crowned 14yo Age Group Champion at the NDC & Goulburn Murray Division Swimming Carnivals; she won the 14yo Age Group Champions award at the NDC Athletics Carnival; placed 1st at the GMD & 2nd at the Hume Region 14yo Cross Country events; and competed at the AusCycling Junior Track National Championships in Brisbane where she finished 5th in both the 2000m Individual Pursuit and Points Race, and 9th in the Scratch Race and 500m Time Trial.

Emme Cole (Year 10)

Emme has shown a strong commitment to improve in all aspects of the Sports Academy program in 2024. She has continued to push herself in the strength and conditioning sessions which have helped her achieve great success on the Hockey pitch this year.

Emme has upheld the NDC values as well as the Sports Academy values of Kindness, Encouragement and Commitment. Her commitment and dedication to her sport resulted in her being selected for the Victorian Hockey Team that travelled to Hobart in Term 1.

Both Isla and Emme receive a $150 voucher from Intersport as well as half price fees to play Basketball for the Marist Basketball Club. We would also like to thank Marist Basketball Club for sponsoring these awards.

We are so proud of Isla and Emme and the way they represent our College. Well done girls.
