A reminder that Friday 30 August is a student free day. The office will be closed as staff are attending professional development sessions.
Catholic Education Sandhurst has recently completed a review of the names of buildings, rooms, facilities, and programs across the entire Sandhurst Diocese. Following the review, we have received a request to rename two of our buildings.
Those buildings are the Monsignor Anthony Bones Hall and the Bishop Noel Daly Centre. It’s important to clarify that the requirement to change names has come about because of some historical abuse cases and whilst Bishop Daly and Monsignor Bones were not perpetrators of abuse themselves, they failed in a couple of instances to deal with issues that came across their desks, and so allowed injustice and abuse to continue to be unaddressed.
The Leadership Executive team in consultation with Father Joe Taylor have discerned this and have followed an approval process to rename these buildings.
Approval from Bishop Shane for building name changes has been received.
They are:
Monsignor Anthony Bones Hall will now be named – Sacred Heart Hall
Bishop Noel Daley Centre will now be named - The La Valla Centre
There will be some further work to inform the community of the changes, change the signage, College documentation, etc. and we will ensure that you remain informed of the progress as it gets underway.
If your student is feeling unwell whilst at school they must advise their teacher.
The teacher will sign their student planner to advise the office staff that they are allowed to leave their classroom.
Students will be able to go to Sick Bay only after their planner has been signed.
Students are NOT TO CALL OR EMAIL their PARENTS.
The staff in Student Reception/Sick Bay will assess your child’s condition and contact you.
Parents, if your child needs a leave pass during the day it would be preferred that you do NOT phone or email as our office staff may be busy with other tasks
INSTEAD:
Write your child a note the morning of appointment, requesting to leave school at a specific time (if collecting at 2:00PM make your Leave Pass Note for 10 minutes before).
The student will then have their note signed by Head of House / Community before Pastoral Group.
When it’s time to leave the student will show the signed leave pass to their classroom teacher to be excused.
The student will then show their note to Staff at Student Reception and will sign out using the kiosk.
Parent/guardians will meet the student in the front of the College
** in extenuating circumstances you can call the office and we will do our best to get message to them in a timely manner
