Tuesday 8 August saw our three year 12 VM Personal Development & Skills / Religious Education classes deliver a wonderful social diversity event. As part of their year 12 assessment, students had to plan, implement and evaluate a community project. Social diversity was chosen to highlight the richness of world cultures and the essential role of inter-cultural dialogue for achieving harmony, acceptance, and sustainable development within our community.
Four guest speakers were present, Emma Hoffmeyer from GV Pride, Dr Steven Little and Sifa from Africa House, Sam Atukorala from Shepparton Ethnic Council and our very own NDC teacher Hitashi Grover to deliver their personal insights, challenges faced and positive aspects of living in a socially diverse community.
An enormous amount of planning went into this event and the students did a wonderful job with bringing this day to life with a special feature of our African students who showcased their vibrant and colourful traditional attire from their home country. The students should all feel very proud of this achievement.
On Friday 11 August - the Yr 12 VET Community services class combined with the Yr 12 VET Health class to learn more about Community Services and Primary Health.
A multidisciplinary team from Primary Care Connect Shepparton came to speak with the students and delivered an engaging session where job roles, demand for support services, study requirements, pathways and everything in between were discussed.
The panel answered lots of great questions and have left students motivated and inspired about a potential career in Community services and Primary Health.
We have fourteen lambs from nine ewes
Very successful lambing season
Thank you George Lester for capturing the image.
This year, Jennings and Mungovan are joining forces to raise awareness for Sarcoma cancer through fundraising for the Tie-Dye Project. (Sarcoma is a rare and complex cancer that forms in the bone, cartilage, or soft tissue.)
The Tie-Dye Project is one of many organisations taking action in the fight to eliminate this rare cancer. The Tie-Dye Project was founded by Giants Netballer and Australian Diamond, Amy Parmenter.
As The Tie-Dye Project is closely linked to netball, Jennings and Mungovan are promoting the initiative through a Jennings vs. Mungovan netball match. The game is to be held at lunchtime in the Mercy Stadium on September 1, with a gold coin required for entry. Mixed teams of staff and students will be competing to win, with all funds raised being passed onto the Tie-Dye Project, before then being donated to a sarcoma related project.
There will also be a charity raffle with some signed goods to be auctioned off.
