Update from John Cortese – 19 October 2021

Thank you all, once again, for your prompt action in response to our updates. We appreciate that there have been many changes made this week and most have been with very little notice.

We continue to do everything we can to ensure the health and safety of our whole school community. Whilst we have been in Remote Learning, we have been coordinating a clean of both campuses, this is due to be completed tomorrow. We have also informed all Primary Close Contacts of positive cases that they need to get tested and isolate and cannot attend our site until they have clearance from VIC Health to end their quarantine.

A reminder to all that you should continue to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID - 19 and seek testing immediately if any develop. Please do not attend work if you are feeling unwell.

Student Lockers

We will not be able to fulfil any requests for collection from student lockers which were placed after 3:00pm on 19 October 2021. Most students will have access to lockers from Thursday, and we will be able to support those in quarantine from Thursday to get essentials from their lockers.

At this point we are planning the following:

Wednesday 20 October 2021

  • All students in Remote Learning
  • Supervision Program available for vulnerable students and students of essential workers.

Thursday 21 October 2021

  • Year 7, 10 and 11 students onsite for classes
  • Year 8, 9 and MCP students in Remote Learning
  • Supervision Program available for vulnerable students and students of essential workers.
  • Year 12 students can attend classes for any subject which has a VCE exam. Attendance is not compulsory, but teachers will be available in their usual classrooms. For students in quarantine please work with your teacher to utilise Teams if you need support.

Friday 22 October 2021

  • Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 students onsite for classes
  • Year 12 students can attend classes for any subject which has a VCE exam. Attendance is not compulsory, but teachers will be available in their usual classrooms. For students in quarantine please work with your teacher to utilise Teams if you need support.

Year 12 Events

We have rescheduled Rites of Passage and Final Assembly for our year 12s to Friday, November 12th. Year 12 students are to arrive at recess time in summer uniform and attend Rites of Passage for lessons 3 and 4 in their house groups. We will provide lunch and then celebrate their final assembly with them in lesson 5. They will be dismissed at 2.30pm.

Provision of Learning for Absent Students

Once we have a year level or year levels back onsite and classes are being taught in person by our teaching staff, they will no longer be providing a remote learning programme for students who are absent. Students are encouraged to make contact with teachers and work out a plan with them for how they can best keep up with the work whilst they are away from school.

Year 12 VCE/Scored VET Classes from Thursday

VCE and Scored VET Classes will continue to run for Year 12 students up until and including the day of the scheduled exam. These classes are optional only. If students choose to attend, they should go straight to their usual classroom and minimise their movements around the campus. If students need to remain at school in between classes, they should go to the Senior Area of the Library where they will be checked into the study area by a staff member.

Onsite Supervision - Wednesday 20 October and Thursday 21 October 2021

For those students who meet the below criteria, we will be running an onsite supervision program.  You can find the full list of the eligible authorised workers HERE.

Students who are NOT registered will have to be collected from the College and taken home.

Bookings must be made by 12:00pm the day prior. This deadline has been extended until 7:00pm on Tuesday 19 October 2021.

Criteria for Onsite Supervision Program:

  1. Children who have previously been attending because their parent/s and/or carer/s were considered authorised workers.
  2. Children experiencing vulnerability, including:

    4. where a parent/carer indicates that a student with a disability is vulnerable because they cannot learn from home, and/or informs the school the student is vulnerable due to family stress, the school must provide on-site supervision for that student. This may apply to students enrolled in specialist schools and students with a disability enrolled in mainstream schools.

Year 9 and MCP students booked into supervision programme will be based at the Emmaus Campus.
